Abazali is an ode to true love. Love is not about belonging to someone, it’s about belonging together. The song celebrates the purity and simplicity of love that is given wholeheartedly. The chorus, “kuthi angitshele abazali ukuthi ungiphethe kahle” loosely means, it’s time I told my parents you are the keeper of my heart.
After doing the Early breakfast show for 3 years and East Coast Party Central for about a year concurrently, J Sbu is now 1 half of the flagship afternoon “Drive show” on East Coast Radio. His contribution to the radio industry and immense growth was recognised when J Sbu was inducted as a bright star at the annual Radio Awards 2021.
KZN born, J Sbu is all about sharing a positive and relatable outlook on life. This multifaceted gentleman wears many hats from being named Gateway Brand Ambassador in 2018 to launching his debut single; Uthandolwakho in 2019, J Sbu has since released 5 singles namely; Energy ft Yashna, Lethokuhle ft Nonji, Abazali ft Minnie Ntuli and Vuyani(nominated song of the year at the 031 awards) and Indlela with Vuyani ft Maline Aura. On the 29th of October J Sbu released his debut E.P titled Gulf of Alaska. The E.P is as captivating and energetic as the unique Gulf of Alaska, ” where the two oceans meet but never mix”. The 5 track project is a mix of pounding drums, pulsing basses and exotic melodies that offer you the opportunity to cut loose on the dance floor.
His love for music allows him to be a DJ that specializes in Afro House & Afro Tech. The ultimate vision is to build a proudly KZN brand that is recognized both nationally and internationally. J Sbu has taken his love for music on the road with his Summer Tour, an annual brand positioning campaign where he travels to various venues with the mission of sharing how he sees the world through music.
The campaign was a great success as it allowed him to travel to some of KZN’s hottest party destinations, performing for the 1000’s. The latest J Sbu Summer Tour saw him perform at: Club Ora, Views at 25, Cafe La plage, Old Mutual Music at The Lake, Hotshots Wonderland and various party venues in and around KZN.
J Sbu aspires to create more opportunities for youngsters like himself by paving the way.
