J Sbu Cares Took a Stand Against Human Trafficking

“One Step at a Time” -Walking for Awareness, Hope, and Protection

On October 4th, 2025, Durban’s Suncoast Lawns came alive as hundreds gathered for the Anti-Human Trafficking 5km Walk, hosted by the Umgeni Community Empowerment Centre (UCEC). The walk, themed “Stop Human Trafficking, One Step at a Time,” aimed to shine a light on one of the world’s most devastating crimes while inspiring collective action and community vigilance.

J Sbu led the event as celebrity host, lending his voice and platform to this powerful cause through his community initiative, J Sbu Cares. Known for his deep compassion and commitment to uplifting people across KwaZulu-Natal, J Sbu used the moment to raise awareness around the ongoing fight against human trafficking, an issue that hits very close to home for him.

As you may know, I’m passionate about supporting initiatives that raise awareness on issues close to my heart,” J Sbu shared. “What makes this particular cause deeply personal is that my younger brother, when he was about four or five years old, was almost trafficked in Mandeni. If it hadn’t been for a vigilant neighbour, the outcome could have been very different and I might not even have him with me today.

That experience has shaped J Sbu’s lifelong commitment to advocacy and community education. Through J Sbu Cares, he continues to spark meaningful conversations about safety, awareness, and the role of communities in protecting one another, especially children and vulnerable individuals.

The Anti-Human Trafficking Walk was not just a fitness event; it was a movement of unity, empathy, and collective responsibility. Every step taken symbolized a stand against silence and indifference, and a commitment to safeguarding human dignity.

By partnering with organizations like UCEC, J Sbu Cares reinforced its mission to empower communities through compassion and action. The collaboration served as a reminder that protecting one another begins with caring, one step, one story, and one act at a time.

The day concluded with an overwhelming sense of purpose and togetherness, as participants left inspired to continue the fight against human trafficking beyond the event.

Through J Sbu Cares, we took a stand to stop human trafficking, one step at a time.
